Getting started

From sign-in to your first approved log entry in about ten minutes. Nothing is written until you approve it, so there is no wrong order to do this in.

The four steps

  1. 1

    Sign in with GitHub

OAuth asks for two scopes: repo so private repositories count, and user:email so commits can be attributed to you. If your organisation restricts OAuth apps, paste a personal access token under Integrations → GitHub instead.

Google sign-in works too, and unlocks the Sheets destination and calendar import.

  2. 2

    Pick a model

AI Providers lists OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral, Ollama and a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Paste your own key and that provider bills the model calls to you directly; Devlog credits pay for the pipeline around them. Use Test connection before the first run.

With Ollama on a self-hosted install, the model runs on your own infrastructure and commit messages never leave it. A hosted server cannot reach a model on your laptop.

  3. 3

Summarise a day and approve it

Open Automation, pick the commits from a day, and press Summarize. The draft appears in a review dialog with its task links and an hours figure that says where it came from. Edit anything that misreads the day, then approve. Only then is the entry written.

  4. 4

    Set a schedule

On the same page, choose a time and your timezone. From then on the log for each day is drafted overnight and waits for you in Daily Work. A schedule without a timezone is refused rather than defaulted: a run time with no zone is not a time.

What is sent to the model

Commit messages, the repository name, line-count totals, and any non-commit work you logged for that day. File contents and diffs are never read, so they cannot be sent. The prompt is yours to change under AI Providers; the summary is asked for as prose plus a list of task keys, and any key that is not a real assigned task is discarded before the draft reaches you.

Living with it

Daily Work is where entries live: search, filter, edit, mark submitted, attach or detach tasks by hand, export CSV. Log the work that never produced a commit — meetings, reviews, on-call — from the same page, by form, by a sentence, or by dictating one. Each becomes part of that day's summary.

A day you missed is filled in from Bulk fill: pick a range, preview one day, then run it. Days that already have an entry are left alone.

Everything above is the free tier and the whole product for one person. Teams, task assignment and the manager's report are the workspace features.
